Scholarships for Doctoral programmes at Tomas Bata University

Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU), (Czech Univerzita Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně), is a progressive university comprised of six faculties offering students the possibility of studying technology, chemistry, food processing, ecology, economics, management, visual arts, communication studies, informatics, pedagogy, philology and health care. The University is named after the world-famous entrepreneur Tomas Bata (1876-1932) who was also the originator of the shoe industry in Zlín. Since its establishment, hundreds of highly-qualified professionals have received education at the University. With a current student population of about 13,000, TBU ranks among medium-sized Czech universities.

Tomas Bata University in Zlín provides 164 accredited degree courses within 82 accredited degree programmes. The programmes are taught either in the Czech language or the English language at the Bachelor‘s, Master‘s and Doctoral levels. Tuition is offered at all the faculties in both full-time and part-time modes of study. The lists of faculties is as follows:

Tuition fee

EUR 2,500 / 1 academic year (Faculty of Technology)
EUR 1,500 / 1 academic year (Faculty of Management and Economics)
EUR 1,500 / 1 academic year (Faculty of Applied Informatics)
EUR 2,500 / 1 academic year (Faculty of Multimedia Communications)

Admission requirements

• Application Form (available at www.utb.cz / section: International Students)
• Certificates, Diploma and Diploma Supplement of the highest completed education (transcript/study reports from each study year, list of subjects with number of lessons) verified and translated into Czech or English
• CV (curriculum vitae)
• Reference Letter
• International English Certificate - min. B2 level (e.g. TOEFL Paper min. 513/677, TOEFL CBT min. 183/300, TOEFL IBT min. 65/120, IELTS min. 5.5/9, FCE)

Scholarships for Doctoral students:

CZK 96,000 / 1 year (approx. EUR 4,000) from TBU
Available for full-time students only!

Additional scholarship information

TBU will cover 1 flight ticket from the student's home country to the Czech Republic at the beginning of the Ph.D. programme and 1 flight ticket from the Czech Republic to the student's home country after completing the 3 or 4 year programme (depending on the accreditation).

All international students will also have a possibility to attend a Czech language course free of charge.
Scholarship is sufficient to cover costs of living, health insurance, housing and meals at the university refectory.
