The School of Oceanography Undergraduate Scholarships

The School of Oceanography offers numerous need-based and merit-based undergraduate scholarships including:

• Awards monetarily equivalent to three quarters of in-state tuition
• Awards of up to half of a student's estimated financial need
• Book and supply of $1000 or more

Our generous scholarship donors have made funds available for general and specialized applicants. Students are encouraged to review the list of scholarships on the website and address any specific criteria that may qualify them for particular awards in their personal statement.

Scholarship winners will be announced by the end of Spring Quarter. Eligible undergraduates are limited to matriculating Oceanography majors in good academic standing who will be enrolled for at least two quarters during the 2012-2013 academic year (summer, autumn, winter, or spring). Students receiving financial aid should contact the UW Financial Aid Office regarding how winning a scholarship might affect their award.

How to Apply

Please submit one packet containing the following:

• page 2 of this application
• a one-to-two page personal statement (see page 2)
• a copy of your unofficial UW undergraduate transcript (including Winter 2012)
• copies of other college-level transcripts (if appropriate).

Materials may be turned in either to the Oceanography Student Services Coordinator, faxed to the phone number listed below, or sent to (postmark by the due date above):
